History


Beach Buggy Australia started on the fabulous Gold Coast as a beach buggy rental company. During this time, the owners found that people became excited about the experience and wanted to own a piece of the buggy lifestyle, however many yearned for a bit more space for the family and camping gear etc. So the challenge was on to design a buggy to cater for the market. After some development the MAX FX Long Wheel Base was born- an Australian four seater beach buggy that meets all compliance requirements, a classic look with quality features.

The company then changed hands and relocated to the Sunshine Coast, this saw a period of research and development and investment into improving the quality of the product and adding a Short Wheel base to the stable. Much development was also put into the development of the very sporty and modern TARGA Kit stay tuned to hear more about this in coming months.



New Beginnings
Now Beach Buggy Australia is back where it belongs on the Gold Coast and has been incorporated into the respected Volks-Mod team. Now Australia's best buggy builders Kurt and Gunter Bogholz bring you Australia's best Beach Buggy. What an excellent combination! The boys are experienced buggy builders having made perfecting both the on-road and off-roaders their life's work.

 So whether your style is a tricked up streeter or a machine that can handle all kinds of terrain the boys at Beach Buggy Australia can build your buggy dream.

Our Team

Twins Kurt and Gunter Bogholz are best know to the VW and Buggy communities as the owners of Volks-Mod on Queensland’s Gold Coast. This well known business has been successfully servicing and repairing VW’s of all persuasions as well as building and modifying Beach Buggies. They have built various Meyers Manx’s and won a cabinet full of trophies for their work, but these boys don’t just build buggies that look good. Gunter has become well known amongst the drag racing fraternity and a big supporter of the new VW 1/8th mile drag racing event at Warwick each year, with impressive performances behind the wheel of his 1986 2.4 litre street buggy. Gunter’s on track results have demonstrated how well he can build these little critters. Combined with Kurt’s love of the off roading scene in his purpose built Meyers Manx Green Machine which can handle any terrain the boys have proven to be a formidable duo.

The Green Machine


The ‘Green Machine’ is a culmination of many years of working on Volkswagens and Beach Buggies. The Volks-Mod boys have spent many long hours building, testing and developing this machine to create an air-cooled Volkswagen-powered buggy that can really perform.
